Note: Student Reports to be distributed Friday, December 12, 2014.
The Preliminary SAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is administered each year in October and the student score reports are delivered to participating schools in December. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college scholarships. Recognitions occur the students senior year, based on eleventh grade scores.
The PSAT/NMSQT can be a valuable resource in preparation for the SAT that many students take as a college entrance exam. Below are two links for students and parents to explore. The first allows students and parents to download information that will help better understand the scoring of the PSAT/NMSQT: “Understanding 2014 PSAT/NMSQT Scores.” The second link leads to the College Board’s “My College Quick Start” Web site where students can access their PSAT/NMSQT students report online; plus, there students can also use the site for college preparation and to further enhance their preparation for the SAT. The “My College Quick Start” requires that the student set up a free account and to use their unique Online Access Code that is printed on the individual Student Score Report.
A copy of the 2014 PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide distribute in October may be accessed with the third link at the bottom.
